Christmas is a big commercial moment for Bombinate. Working with the mindset of our customers and their eagerness to connect back with family and friends during the holidays we explored the idea of nostalgia, harking back to simpler times. Using graphic treatments to create retro assets and introducing Christmas archive film to represent togetherness and family and to reinforce the excitement that consumers are already feeling.
Every gift tells a story keeps the messaging quite open ended to us and the customer. We can fill in the story but more importantly encourage our customers to participate in making these memories to last a lifetime.
One of the first activations during this period is promoting the gift shop on various channels through the homepage, landing pages, social media and emails.
We wanted to give the gift shop it’s own identity during this period to ensure it stood out from our business as usual communications during this period.
Curating images that were warm-toned, moody and luxurious but also had to have a hint of burgundy or dark green. Juxtaposed with bright yellow text against the dark imagery to ensure legibility. All assets we’re also edited with additional noise and texture to mimic old photographs.
Singles day, a promotional activation that lasts only one day on November 11th. As the promotion only lasts for a day we wanted this to stand out from competitors by we showcasing our best selling products in the style of collages made from vintage magazines, ensuring it stayed true to the creative direction of the period, nostaglia.
The busiet shopping period of the year, this was the same at Bombinate too. With so much noise during this period we needed to find a way to really catch customer’s attentions. This lead us to looking at how effective vintage ads were from top brands such as Apple and Nike. The use of very simple imagery and simple copy you could not miss was something we wanted to emulate with this activation.
Because this was a one of the busiest shopping periods of the year we wanted to remind customers that not only are they buying into a great price but additionally they’re investing in quality and sustainably made products, better for them and the planet.
